Better a rusty gate than a rusty bicycle! I have been on quite a serious campaign to pick up fitness lately as I am going for a holiday in the French Alps in August for a week of mountain biking - the basic idea is lots more riding and less drinking. Okay, more riding in between the drinking! Anyways, I went for a ride yesterday after work - it didn't go too well - I made the rookie mistake of not eating properly and was hungry 10km into the ride. Stopped at a shop and munched a vegetable samoosa, and bought some froot n nut bars, but it was too little way too late - 48km later I called it quits (it was supposed to be a 60-70km ride) feeling weak and generally very cruddy. Man, I really know how to waste my time! H. www.iRideAfrica.com

Ocean View? You bet! I stayed a few days in the bungalow with the open door and red hammock. £6 per night! That's the reggae bar/restaurant an the bottom right-hand side. A smashing spot. I am on the dawn of a new era - a project that will be diverting my energies. Your personal project is to think of any cyclists (road or mountain bike) that you have in your life, and think about whether they would enjoy a cycling holiday in South Africa. Then tell them about www.iRideAfrica.com ! Nuff said. Happy Monday, have a great week! H. www.iRideAfrica.com
